Budget Department, Ministry of Finance
Do you have a strong interest in society, are driven, and enjoy finding solutions to problems? Then we can offer you a developing job in the heart of Swedish administration.
Your workday. Sweden's tomorrow.
The Budget Department plays a central role in the Government Offices and leads and coordinates the government's work with the state budget. We review all government decisions that have financial, organizational, and socio-economic consequences. The Budget Department works to ensure that public funds are used as effectively as possible. Our guiding stars are good budget discipline, economic efficiency, and high cost-effectiveness. The department analyzes the efficiency of society's resource use, provides advice on the design of economic policy, and participates in economic policy cooperation within the EU and OECD. We are also responsible for structural issues in the Swedish economy and the EU's public finance system.
We are now looking for employees with current experience from working in the Government Offices for several different roles. Main areas of responsibility and tasks may include:
- contact person for a government department, which involves reviewing, analyzing, preparing, and negotiating issues within one or more policy areas,
- analysis and follow-up of the development of state budget expenditures and the design of the state's economic governance,
- analysis, policy development, and negotiation regarding the EU's public finance system,
- analysis of economic efficiency and cost-effectiveness in economic policy nationally and at the EU level,
- working against incorrect payments and criminals as recipients of public funds.
The Budget Department is characterized by a strong team spirit. Many of our employees rotate between tasks within the department after a few years, thereby developing both themselves and the organization. Our responsible tasks and our knowledge-intensive environment require good cohesion. “Next to the Minister of Finance, the most important client is the colleague who needs help,” summarized one of our employees' attitudes in the department. Another employee describes it as “A workplace with high-performing colleagues but where the atmosphere is unpretentious and without sharp elbows.” As an employee with us, you will become part of that culture.
